I grew up in Los Angeles and as my interest in orchestral music developed, naturally I went to hear the L.A. Philharmonic at the auditorium and at the Hollywood Bowl. There I heard the orchestral repetoire for the very first time. Bob was the first trumpet and always sounded so beautiful on everything. He made it sound so easy! After he retired from the orchestra, it was my good fortune to sit beside him a lot over the next ten years in the studios. Imagine how I felt sitting there next to this man of impeccable taste, both musically and personally. I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone in all the time I knew him. Bob DiVall was a class act!
