When I first heard a recording of Timofei Dokshizer, I couldn't believe his musicianship and phrasing. He made me cry and he made me laugh-his playing really touched me. His transcriptions of violin music really impressed me. It was probably his playing of violin music that gave me the inspiration to try the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. When I finally got to meet Timofei and study with him, I was totally in awe of his talent. The following is an excerpt from a postscript (dated July of 1995) to his memoirs written in 1992. I am so honored to be included in this book. From: The Memoirs of Timofei Dokshizer- An Autobiography
