Probably the most generous person I have ever encountered, Manny was a wonderful, giving man
who shared everything he had with everybody. Not only did he share his talent and his love of life
with anyone, but also anything he had was yours. Many times he stepped in to work for an
incapacitated trumpet player only to send that man's family the check for the job. He was a living
legend. He was probably one of the most famous trumpeters in the world. "The studio is my
bag!" he would tell aspiring young players. He was a great player who could play it all- anything
from Shostakovich to Jolivet, to Tiger Rag. Always enthusiastic, he was the "life of the party".
