When I first met Uan, I could not believe that anyone could be such a musical giant and also be the nicest guy in the world. I found myself in the presence of a man on a very high spiritual level. What a thrill to hear Uan's solo trumpet on "Chinatown"! Sensual, beautiful, just the ticket! I had listened to him on "American in Paris" and many other soundtracks. Most of the MGM musicals featured his wonderful sound on solos and first trumpet. I consider myself very fortunate to have met him and to have enjoyed his friendship and kindness over these many years.
